Astro’s Playroom has received a surprise update that adds the PS5 Pro and other PlayStation accessories to the game’s gacha machine. Astro’s Playroom launched over four years ago, but developer Team Asobi has since released a few updates for the fan-favorite game. Astro’s Playroom lets you control Astro on a 3D platforming adventure across 4 different components of the PlayStation 5. You can go through Memory Meadow, a cloudy realm of wind and storms. Or visit the Cooling Springs, featuring a beach party setting and a surprise ice level later.
However, they have an even more useful purpose in that they can contribute to the player’s coin collection efforts. One hit yields one coin, two hits yield two coins, but three hits will yield the maximum of seven coins, meaning that interested individuals might want to put some serious effort into this. Please note that if they get killed, they will need to re-collect all of the coins since the last checkpoint, meaning that there is extra incentive for them to be careful. Every time I had fun with the game, it always ended in me encountering an area that is simply impossible for me to finish. This includes all the aforementioned key areas of levels with physical mandatory controls, but also some minor elements that appear briefly through the game. Further mandatory physical interaction with the controller includes blowing into the microphone and flicking your finger to launch Astro like a slingshot.

In 2015, it was remastered on the PlayStation 4 by Bluepoint Games. At the very end of the level, check the left-hand side of the CRT pile to find two dancing cats in front of a PocketStation. These reference Doko Demo Issyo, released for the device in 1999 only in Japan, and developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Final Thoughts On Astro’s Playroom
The PS VR Processor Unit was a box that both the PlayStation 4 and PSVR connected to. It enabled Social Screen video output to the TV, which meant it adjusted the VR headset’s display so that it was viewable on a television. This also allowed it to be used with asymmetrical multiplayer modes such as those used in The Playroom VR, and handles normal 2D content.
The frog suit of Cooling Springs is an absolute treasure in its DualSense use, though the levels are not necessarily my favorites. My favorite of them is GPU Jungle’s full robotic monkey suit, which leads to vertically-scrolling, 2D-view levels. The final boss is a deep cut reference to a classic PS1 tech demo that you’ll immediately recognize if you’ve been gaming with PlayStation long enough and it was a real treat to experience. Without spoiling anything, Astro’s Playroom essentially takes place inside the inner workings of a PS5 console.

When https://g28.autos/ get to the Checkpoint just after the Uncharted easter egg, head around the corner of the cliff to find a reporter pointing out a black painting on the rock. The symbols above the soldiers refer to the rhythm-based nature of the gameplay to help take on large beasts.
The main character Ash uses a paint brush that can bring his creations to life. When you get to the very end of the level, you’ll land on a Sacred Symbols rainbow bridge. Turn around and run to the start of the bridge to see two bots at the title screen of “Bot of War”. This title screen references 2005’s God of War for the PS2, developed by SIE Santa Monica Studio. Every single PS2 God of War was released in a PS3 collection in 2009, while the PSP duo were in 2011.
The final neat feature of Astro’s Playroom is the Network Speed Run challenge levels. You can do normal platforming challenge levels with Astro or ones focused on each suit to earn the best times. But it’s not all suits and colorful levels to enjoy, there’s also a mountain of collectibles to find that tug on the nostalgic heartstrings of any PlayStation fan. Astro’s Playroom is not a particularly difficult game, so you shouldn’t really have too much trouble finishing it regardless of your ability level.
